Vanguard VEO 235AB Tripod & TBH-50 Ball Head Review
by Eric Reagan of Photography Bay
The Vanguard VEO 235AB tripod is a new part of the VEO travel line of tripods, monopods and camera bags. It is an ultra-compact tripod with 5 leg sections.
Vanguard VEO 235AB Tripod Key Features
- Load Capacity: 13.2 lb
- Max Height: 50″
- Min Height: 7.25″
- Folded Length: 14.9″
- Leg Sections: 5
- Weight: 3.3 lb
It is aluminum construction, which keeps the cost down to a reasonable $150 but it still doesn’t overload your kit at just 3.3 lbs. (a carbon fiber tripod kit is available in the VEO line). It also includes its very own compact carrying case.
The center column quickly rotates underneath the legs for incredible portability. An included center column adapter allows you to position the VEO 235AB low to the ground in conjunction with the three-position spreading legs.
The Vanguard TBH-50 ball head adds to the bargain of this tripod kit when its similarly-situated siblings run $80. I have long been a fan of Vanguard ball heads and the included TBH-50 is no exception.
The TBH-50 features separate locking levers for the ball head and the panning base. It also has a built-in bubble level and, more importantly, features an Arca-Swiss compatible quick release plate.
