    ALTA PRO 263AB 100 is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from The most efficient tripod I've ever used I have been an amateur landscape photographer for many years and I always thought a tripod should not be worth more than $100 - about the amount I spent on my last one before this one. I received this Vanguard professional tripod free for reviewing from Amazon and I must say - this is an entire different class than what I am used to. The ball makes all the difference. Of course, one has to get familiar with some of the tightening knobs, but in the end, it is by far the best tripod I've ever seen. Just last weekend I went to some waterfalls in Tennessee and even when the surface was very uneven, it did not make a difference with this tripod! All I had to adjust was the position of the ball head. It is like working with 3D controls rather than 2D at one time with my old tripod. I was able to adjust angles and position much faster than otherwise. The legs are sturdy - I placed this tripod in running water for some of the half-second RAW shots of the falling water, and the results are fabulous. I did not think this tripod is heavy - at least compared to some others I used - and it was easy to carry it around in its bag.

One more question: How much weight can the ball head and center column support when the center column is extended out horizontally all the way (at a 90 degree angle) without tilting or sagging?  Thanks!

    Asked by: ChrisLeininger
Hello- The center column when horizontal can hold approximately 10#, the tripod will tip over before the center column sags.

Hello! Just curious, what's the difference between the SBH 100 Ball Head that comes with this tripod and the TBH 100 Ball Head that can be purchased separately. Also, is the SBH Ball Head removable?  Thank you!

    Asked by: ChrisLeininger
Hello- The difference between the SBH & TBH 100 is the TBH is Arca Swiss where the SBH is not. Yes the SBH ball head is removable.

Can the center column be removed and the ball head attached without the column for the "extra low angle option" as in the VEO 204AB? Or do you have to get low angle shots by using the swivel center column?

    Asked by: Eric
The center column on the alta pro can be removed to get the low angle shots.

Do your maximum tripod height specifications include the center column being extended?  I assume the height is the distance to the mounting surface of the head (on tripods with included heads) with the head in a horizontal position?

    Asked by: Paul
Yes, that are correct. The maximum height includes the center column extended to the top of the ball head.
